Halyard cleat
I have my lines running aft to the cockpit. Every time I point into the wind and try to raise the main (with sail slugs) it gets caught on the original halyard cleat on the mast. I have been thinking about removing it since I have rope clutches aft. thoughts?

The fortress model F-11 fits perfectly in the M anchor well, and is factory rated for our boat length. This is a highly rated, high quality anchor and very light weight aluminum. I was also able to pick up a 15' length of galvie chain and 200' nylon rode package on Ebay for 60 buck shipped. I got th...

Jib Downhaul
Thanks for the pictures When rigging the Jib downhaul line, do you guys attach the end of it to the head of the jib and go directly to the pulley/eye on the deck and then back to the cockpit, or do you attach it to another location lower? Do you weave the line in among the hank snaps or do you just ...

I will have to practice heaving to by myself in strong winds Dave. Thanks for pointing me to those awesome links Barry, very god quality and very informative. LOL Scott! of course I have winches, cleats and a winch handle. I am just trying to find a way to handle the jib lines while keeping a hand o...

Singlehanding- rigging for single handed sailing
I have less than a year sailing "larger" boats and was only on my 3rd sail with my new (used) 26M, so my inexperience ws showing yesterday. I tried singlehanding the boat in 15 Kt winds and was not too happy with the results. My first problem was trying to trim the jib from back at the hel...

So Leon what do you do when it is a major blow with gusts over 20-25? Do you run with a reefed main and partially furled jib? It seems like running with a reefed main alone is not very good. What have you found makes a decently balanced rig in big wind conditions? Also, how do you flatten your sails...

I looked into the ridgelines, and they are a nice vehicle. Good luck with yours. They are heavily discounting them now, and you can get the upgraded model with trailer hitch for around 22K, and the loaded one with leather and GPS for less than 27K. Of course right now you can also get Silverado left...

Rounding up -Weather helm
I was out on Monday with small craft warnings off Marblehead, and all went pretty well until the gusts hit around 25 Kts, I had out the full main and Jib and she would round up so hard I could only stop it by letting the mainsheet out, or run with the main really far out and partially luffing. I did...
