Question on upper and lower shroud bolts...tight or loose?

Post by Daves_knot_here »

I'm getting the X ready for it's first sail and noticed that the bolts on all the shrouds are only tightened to the point where they still allow the shroud tabs to move. Is this okay?
Thanks,
Dave

Flush but not tight is my bestimate.

Allow some movement there and transfer any wear from movement inboard and off your shrouds.

I'm not sure what this guy is talking about. If it's shroud tension, then they should 'twang' when the mast's up.

Edit: Oh, the up top tabs. Yeah, they should be able to move.

... the stainless tabs that attach the shrouds to the mast.
