Re: I just found a Mac with all my dream mods!
The 65 was a blue water racer as I'm sure the new 65 will be. It was fast. Roger wasn't satisfied with the speed so he added a few feet and a mizzen mast to make it go even faster. Cruising accommodations were minimal as this is not what it was built for. Ever read the specifications? "Included ice box" Ever see a 65 any kind of boat with an ice box? Really? An ice box.
Roger seemed to like the space ship black and white fiberglass look vs. wood interiors of most boat builders. It was a butt ugly boat inside. This one at least was modded with some nice wood work.
Na, one of the reasons I like the Mac is the space and comfort for such a small boat. I'm not brand loyal. The M/X isn't even the best made boat, but it is the best design in it's class. I know Roger is hard at work building a new 65, but it's going to be a racing class buyer, not cruising.

Yes its a trailor sailor.. A tractor trailor.. if you would of been docked in Sandys surge, it would of cost about $4,000 to get loaded on the trailor, moved inland to safety and returned safely to the water.. just in time for the hypothermia season.. for another $4000. you might find a safe place to stoe it until the 2013 Hurricane season..

Or for the same money (at todays exchange rate) you can just buy Roger's personal boat, which is both longer and faster:
http://www.macgregor26.com/macgregor70/home/home.html
Only two of those were built.

Yea, but it's a butt ugly boat. It might be fast, but inside it looks like Hugh Hefner's boat from the 70's.mastreb wrote:Or for the same money (at todays exchange rate) you can just buy Roger's personal boat, which is both longer and faster:

Ice box? On a 70' boat?We have placed the galley where it has a great view in all directions and lots of fresh air. Its location also gives easy access to the dinette, cockpit and navigation station. The icebox, located under the navigation station, has 9.3 cubic feet capacity, one of the largest that you will find in any comparable boat.

Yeah, but you have to understand that Hugh Heffner's '70s is Roger's heaven. And just because it's 70 feet long doesn't make it not a MacGregor.RussMT wrote: Yea, but it's a butt ugly boat. It might be fast, but inside it looks like Hugh Hefner's boat from the 70's.

It actually looks exactly like a modern "Limo Bus". Don't ask me how I know that.
