On Nice Aft, I notice that I have to be doing at least 2MPH (1.73 kph) in order to successfully come about. Is that also a possibility of why this happened to Doug :?: Maybe a combination of possibilities :?:

I think that this is the case and am understanding better the need for me to better gauge the point to tack--before I lose speed or agility. I've pushed too close to shore and then crank too much when I'm already losing speed.

I've worried that my rudders are not functioning correctly and have had both my wife and one of my sons turn them side to side while I laid in the aft berth watching for the bars catching on something. I also even routed the cabling from the console up away from the steering bars and zip-tied them ...

When I get back to Missouri this weekend, I'll check the angle of each rudder when fully to starboard and fully to port!

I since learned how to "unstall" the rudders - - - turn them completely left and then completely right and then back to center and you should have steering.

Actually, the other boat took on no water - - -I smashed in his port windows (where my anchor roller hit him) and they fell into his cabin, but this was all well above the waterline and he sailed on and neither of us stopped. We both reported it to Mike Inmon (then Inmon Yachts) who put us together. My insurance (Progressive) paid for ALL damage and then promptly cancelled me (no sense of humor).

Rick

PS - - Cat - - - I got the puns - - - I'm just ignoring them!
