Re: Boatlift Support for 1993 M26s
Hey Jim - Congrats on having such a cool setup. I seldom have found a lift that doesn't have some sort of roof covering the slip. If I was in your position, I would also go with the lengthwise supports (bow to stern) if you can make that happen. Being able to work on the centerboard is definitely so...

Re: Worn out hole at bottom of mast
I don't understand your statement. To replace the entire mast?why not just buy alum thick wall tubing then no need to drill

Worn out hole at bottom of mast
As I'm catching up on my other winter "on the hard" boat projects, I got around to fixing a wiring problem in the mast. For the first time since I bought my 26S, I took a good look at the base of the mast. Ummm...would ya take a look at that hole? https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/MVev8iSb...

Re: Marine FM and NOAA Weather Radio for less than $30
I use one of these as one of my beat-up, drop-it, don't-worry-about-it ham radios. You could program the radio to have channel 68 be memory 68. No alphas in the memory locations though, but that shouldn't affect casual users. Max power is 5 watts. The problem with these radios is the poor front-end ...

Re: Bearing protector for Macgregor 25 trailer
I had zero luck finding the right size to fit my trailer. The hubs seem to be a very one-off size. I wasn't able to locate replacement bearings either, but mine weren't in that bad of shape. I'll likely swap axles when the time comes.

I'm up in Heyworth. This is also my first year with the M26, and we have a slip at Clinton Lake.

Thanks Sumner. I've read your blog multiple times and was hoping your add your opinion! I don't have any blisters and no flaking. The pictures look worse than reality.

bottom painting prep
Now that the sailing season is over here in Central Il, my 26S is relaxing on the trailer after being in the lake all year long. To clean the bottom, I used a power washer with a wide tip. I'm now trying to figure out what paint is there and what I need to do to prep for painting. There was a very t...

Re: There's a fish in my trunk
It's turned really cold here and the barn cats haven't seemed to notice yet. I'm going to try to knock it out with a rod or something. Not much chance of getting a power washer up in there without making a mess of myself.

There's a fish in my trunk
My 26S is on the trailer after we pulled it out of the lake last night for the season. This evening I noticed the swing keel wasn't all the way up flush with the bottom of the boat. No problems just 6" low or so. Went out and climbed under. Pushed up in keel and heard something squishy. Figured...

Re: what size line on roller furler
We pulled the boat out of the lake yesterday for the first time. Even though the forecast today is for 72 and 20mph winds, work was going to keep me away from the lake. This weekend we are down below freezing with highs in the 40s. Can't complain, it has been an awesome October and November for sail...
