Bearing protector for Macgregor 25 trailer

I recently bought a 1977 Mac 25. The Trail Rite trailer needs new bearing buddies. I measured and then bought Fulton 1.985 bearing protectors but I can not get them in. Does someone know the correct size?

I used 1.988 bearing buddies on my 1984 Mac 25. It is entirely possible that one of our trailers does not have the original hubs.

I had zero luck finding the right size to fit my trailer. The hubs seem to be a very one-off size. I wasn't able to locate replacement bearings either, but mine weren't in that bad of shape. I'll likely swap axles when the time comes.
