Re: S.S . Arch mast crutch
Yes Leon.I have noticed tension on the forestay is most important.I took my mast off & did some
work to it & putting the spreader back on & running the wires left things out of adjustment.
I use a backstay but only for looks.
I can use it for my ssb radio

Re: Adjusting the forestay length
Thanks Jim..I will try that.Everything got out of adjustment when I had my mast down off the boat.
I do think & have always thought the front sail is not as tight as it should be.I'm not talking about banjo string
tight.just tight as to have proper form while sailing

Re: Adjusting the forestay length
There is not much Tension on the lines.I think I will just snug it up by using the screw on the bottom.
I just want it tight.not banjo string tight.Just tight.I notice when I'm sailing the form isn't that great
on the front sail.To me it looks like it needs to stretched tighter

Re: Adjusting the forestay length
Thanks Dave,
I just have the line wrapped around so it won't drag the ground in this picture.
That was before Mark helped me put the sail on.I didn't realize both lines
had to have an even ammount of tension, thanks

Re: Adjusting the forestay length
yes, thats a furler one can use.Nice.I wish we could have known about the cheap sails, cheap furler & a few other things before we baught the boat. One could go ahead & order the things that work proper instead of going through all this.Oh well, it's still a great boat.I would love to go ahead...
