Venture 2-22 Owners out there
Venture 2-22 Owners out there
I was wondering how many Venture 2-22 owners are out there? I acquired a 1971 2-22 end of last summer and in the process of refreshing her.

We've owned First Step for about three years now. We live and sail in Michigan, so we're suffering through our typical long, cold winter.
Can't wait for sailing season.

Thanks Nick;
I did not get to use her much last year did not get it until late in the summer. Hoping do get alot of sailing in this season and some restoration work done and get her fixed up.
Also trying to find a trailer that will work for her so if anyone knows a place to find one cheap give a hollar.

I have one - I think it's a 77 but not positive. But it's been rotting in a field for a few years now.

I have a '79 - love her. She is my favorite place for coffee this time of year. It can be tough climbing up the ladder and chipping the ice off to get through the companionway hatch though.

I bought my '78 2-22 in August. Love it and can't wait to get some things fixed, upgraded, and replaced. Hate the trailer, though.

Re: Venture 2-22 Owners out there
I own a 1972 2-22. It's been in the family since 1978, when my grandfather had it. He got a bigger boat, and my dad got it; then he got a bigger boat, and I got it. This old gal has a lot of history, a lot of wear, and just had her 2nd overhaul. But it's a great boat, and I plan on keeping it around as long as her seams hold together. Some of the things I've done include:
-All new running rigging
-All new blocks
-Refitted interior
-Keel re-lamination
-New Keel Cable
-Upgraded to new 5/8" Keel pivot bolt
-and lots of the basic maintenance and repairs associated with fiberlgass boats
It's still running the original sails, but the Genoa is still in crisp shape. I plan on getting a new mainsail at some point, but that will have to wait until after the Mrs. and I buy a house.

I just downsized to a V222 (1974) from a Cornado 25. I had a Mac V21 long ago and missed having a boat I could trailer.
I've had this one since March. I've gutted the interior and pulled all of the deck hardware off. Will repaint, rewire and redo the carpentry inside. Hope to see you on the water this summer
