Tow Beast Roll Call

Post by TAW02 »

Let's give credit to that unsung hero ... the TOW BEAST

I'd like to thank my 2000 Silverado 1500 4wd V8 Vortec Pickup Truck.
Drinks gasoline like a like a trailerpark Jazabelle, but can she perform!

and also to the ol' previous 'high spirited' 1994 Ford Aerostar V6 Beast as she labored hard but got us safely to our destination and ramped our old 80 MAC25.

Big T

Pajero 2.8 TDI AKA Shogun, its the same size as a Landrover disco

you do not get pushed around by the trailer, she does about 18mpg whilst towing but as she can run on Vegetable oil,who cares :)

05 Toyota Taco Ma, V6, 5 spd auto, 4wd, 6300lbs tow rated.
It just squeaks by to be "enough" truck to highway tow my M fine, IMHO.
15mpg, or so, while towing in less adverse conditions.
Gotta love pulling the boat out of the water and up the ramp in 4wd low range. Almost idles up the ramp.
You don't forget the Mac is back there, but so far, she has arrived at the destination just after I have. :)

2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Duramax Diesel, gets 12 mpg when the camper is on the truck, and 15 with just the boat. Extremely stable while towing.

1996 aerostar, long wheel base all wheel drive. gets up the ramp with no problems. Even use the van to put my smaller boats off a dirt road,(beach). never pulled the boat over 1 mile so i don't know how stable it is over 25mph. In the winter the van will go through any thing. Pat

2003 Chevy Silverado, VORTEC 6000, 4wd, Crew Cab, performs great, but enjoys drinking the olde gasoline; towing the :macm: we get about 11mpg+ on long trips(800 to 1000 miles). We cruise between 60 to 65 mph on the interstates without any issues.

Pulling my 05 M Mac, 15 mpg on the Highway. She does it but she needs to be longer between the wheels for longer trip's.
