Giving up the Slip

Post by Scott »

Or at the least, my Marina seniority.

After years of griping about rising slip rates we figure just shy of 2K per year is too much. Im letting it go and going with mast up until June.

Our parks and rec charges by 1/2 year (Dec and June) but if you dont pay the whole year you lose seniority. I dont think it will be a problem getting a slip in June, just very unlikely to be the same slip as it is the most desireable slip on the lake.

I will go back in June and splash the boat for the summer but its just not worth a grand to keep the same slip. We had just as much fun all of those years that we had the worst slip on the lake. So be it>

Slip fees

Up here in the PNW the seasons just don't justify annual moorage, I have tried 3 months, then 4 months, then 6 months and now I am going back to 4 months for 2007 summer. It is about $200 per month and that is alot, I might get an extra month free annually but that still leaves 7 months of non-use. Makes me wish I lived 20 degrees further south.

$200 a month is pretty good for BC.

I pay $1450 a season, which here is from Mid May till Mid Oct, if you're lucky.

Randy, quite a bit more than that in southern Alberta, even for just a mooring. That said, we both get lots of free ice for drinks and coolers!! for WAY too much of the year.
How's sailing at Slave L?? Never been up there.

For you guys in the PNW, is there any truth to the rumor that you can slip for free in a little known harbor in Victoria??
