A word of caution - kids and the Mac

If you purchase a Mac I offer this word of caution involving kids.

My son turned-down an afternoon playing with his friends to work with me on the boat. His friends said: "you're working" and he replied: "yes, but this work is fun."

Whenever he gets the chance, he tells others facts he has learned about the boat.

Forget about finishing that tree house - doing mods and talking about future adventures with the boat is much more interesting.

Worst of all, it was only 15 degrees last night and he made me sleep in that boat!

We live in Michigan and my daughter, 6, is also bugging me about spending the night on the boat. Luckely it is still at the marinia in shrink wrap for another week. Hopefully the weather changes quickly or I'm going to have to get the long underware out.

My "still living at home" teenager has no interest in going boating with us. However, his older sister has been talking about how much fun our San Juan adventures are and how much fun sailing is. This is the daughter who used to plant herself in the V-berth for the duration as self locating ballast. Who knew that after a couple of years on the job she would suddenly love camping, boating, motorcycle riding and target shooting. Recently we've begun "training" the grandkids, too much fun!

Last year my wife and I moved to Dana Point Ca to be close to our boat. In Nov we pulled the boat out for the Winter, and much needed maint. We are now waiting for a slip to come open. Every time I pick my kid up from school and we crest a hill on the way home and she sees all the other boats out, i get an ear full from her! "Daddy how come you took MY boat out of the water?" Have you ever been chewed by a 6 year old, who needs her boat fix? not a fun thing! Now i am off to find more Band Aids, She is ready to sail!

Our child is known in the Marina as "The Boom Baby" since about 3 months old we have had her on the water. We have a swing set up on the boom so she could sit in when we come into dock or just sits there and enjoys the view. She is almost two now and still enjoys the swing. I put a 15 inch flat screen with DVD so she can watch her videos when she gets bored and we have not had the table up in over a year!!!
