Rigged and plumbed up a simple submersible water pump with two lines running to galley and head . Water heater I purchase from Amazon heats water to 160 degrees. Pour in 2 gallon hot water with 3 already in the bottle gives you a really warm shower . Picture below shows my home made shower head made with marine grade ply and epoxy then painted.shower head simply slides in place then can can stored away.

Last picture , I think one could use 1 to 1.5 gallons to shower with so two could use up to 3 gallons or so of the prepared water before lights out . Also install deck mount water fill hardware.

Interesting. I use a simpler solution, but perhaps more primitive. I have a Zodi shower that I can heat up on the existing galley stove and then use out in the cockpit. I could also use it below if I set up a bucket like yours, but I don’t really want to risk a the mess inside the cabin. It stows away easily, and I can even use lake water in it, since it’s easy to wash out if need be.

Hi All! :D :D

We cheat and used the marina showers when we’ve been spending extended time out on our boat.
Yes, that’s cheating but it works…except like when we stayed till iceout on Lake Champlain when the wet flip flops froze to the dock on the way back to the boat in the mornings :D :D

Not sure if taking a shower in the cockpit wouldn’t have led to impromptu ice skating lessons there under similar circumstances :| :D :| :D . An inside shower sounds really nice but I sorta agree that it could get messy… the steam condensation turning to frost on the cabin walls comes to mind :D :x :D :|

Yes, I’m a unique case in that we’ve tended to be late season boaters when it’s come to overnighting and both the indoor (Admiral’s choice) and outdoor (my choice) solutions are perfect in their own rights. I like the pump carry tank aspect and cockpit approach as I’ve seen smaller 1-to-2 gallon systems in use before. They are light and easy to setup & store away with minimal fuss. Best one I saw had a ring shower curtain suspended on the end of the boom. The curtain was dancing hula dolphins on a cartoonish tropic beach in really bright colors with a matching shower cap. The top off was the hula audio track that was playing! :D :D

Would have loved to have gotten that on video!

If I were the judge I'd rule that "Not Cheating"!

I've never stayed in a marina but if I did I'd unashamedly use the marina showers before showering in the cabin regardless of the temperature.

Hi All!

Another ancient technique to stay clean while on a boat has always been derivative or two of classic hot sponge bath. A pot of hot/warm water and a hand cloth along with a rinse pot can do wonders for freshening up and personal hygiene! Uses a limited amount of water and does wonders for restoring that civilized feeling.

Modern derivatives are plain wet wipes with maybe a bit of isopropyl alcohol and those dry shampoos. Beats that accumulated ‘been on the boat too long’ aura! :D :?

Takes little space, stores well, uses limited water, comes in hot/cold as well as prepackaged and makes limited mess while offering both indoor as well as outdoor utilization (depending upon your modesty factor.

Best Regards

Tried out the shower inside the boat Saturday night Admiral approved. What would help is a curtain to block water on the port side at the galley and to block aft keep water splashing under the cockpit. We will unashamedly use the Marina showers but they did not leave the key in the mailbox like they said. Anyway it’s a great mod for us makes life on our Mac more comfortable. Next mod for this boat is new rudders ours is the old style large blades that flop around and really loose. My Mac built in 1995. Foot

in my :macm: I installed a shower place in the head. I can close with a curtain 360degree an splash around warm water. At the bottom there is a board that blocks the way out for the water. Even more there is a pump out so I get the water out easily. Should put photos one day in here.

Yes, please post photos.

The 26X head seems to be easier to create a shower than the 26M.
