Replace your "things" before they break

Post by dlandersson »

Just replaced my forestay - it was 10 + years old. It's a good idea (for your family and other loved ones who depend on you) to be a little proactive rather than wait for things to break. 8)

This one was inside a CDI RF, so it wasn't visible. Just thought that it was time for a new one - glad I did 8)

Remember there is a down side of upsizing the forestay, you have to up in tension to stop shock loading. Everything else is now under more stress. Forestay s don’t break from tension, they fatigue or corrode

well don't know for the :macx: , but for the :macm: BWY have 3mm AND the heavier 4mm forestay cable. So I guess it was the same for the :macx:

In question of fatigue and STRANDS you have much more safety with the 4mm over the 3mm forestay.

Especially inside the roller you don't see the cable. And if you have a 4mm forestay with some broken strands it can still be stronger than a 3mm cable...
