Mast fittings
Mast fittings
Greetings all! New member here. I just acquired a venture 21 from a fellow who’s dad was restoring the boat. Unfortunately some of the hardware is mixed up/missing. I’m trying to figure out how the mast attaches. There is a U shaped hinged fitting at the foot of the mast that swings with a metal peg on the bottom. Also it came with a SS fitting that is 3 sided and has a slot on each side. How the heck does this thing go together?? Lol. There is a hole on the top of the cabin that appears to fit the peg fits in but that’s as far as I’ve gotten. Any help appreciated!! Thanks

It shows stock boom connection. If yours doesn't look like this, or you can't figure it out, take a pic and post it. I'm having trouble visualizing your description.

Re: Mast fittings
The fitting is for transporting the mast while trailering. The setup was a bracket on the foredeck that the tube part fit into. If you don't have the bracket there are probably some holes where it used to be. Check it out and let us know. The "U" shaped piece with the elongated holes is the mast step. Under the deck should be the mast post which holds up the deck. SUGGESTION. Check deck around mast step for cracks, weak spots, etc. I put a 1/4 inch stainless plate under the deck between mast post and deck as reinforcement. Deck is pretty thin at this point. Also check area at bottom of mast post to make sure it solid with no give. Good luck.
