Hi,
I started a topic issue about that some weeks ago with very interesting replies in the forum . Now however I have another issue on the same subject as follows
As per information in Sailboatdata , dimension I= 23´ , J=9,67´ This results in a forestay dimension of 25´. ( not checked by me on the actual boat)
The standard Mac spi for X and M have a luff dimension , as per my version of drawing(?) of this sail of 27´. Taking into account small tolerance at the head shackle and an small tack pennant distance to the bow roller for control , it seems to me a bit large luff ( even more if you would use an snuffer!) to go above the railbow... Of course the luff is normally flying somehow but still theory read in some articles on that subject speak about 10% over "I" dimension at maximum, better if less.
As my interest is to have comfortable sailing downwind at reasonable speed , could you , users of mac ( or not mac) spi , share the experiences on this matter ?
May tks in advance
bonati
