The OEM steel trailer has a GVWR of 3500 lb, and has a 3500 lb axle, or at least the bearings are the same as those used on other 3500 lb axles.Tony E wrote:Wow and how many pounds is your trailer axle good for?![]()
Perfectly adequate for the boat as-delivered from the factory, but kinda light as equipped for normal use. To say the least.

Fortunately for most persons on this forum, I think the parts that all come together are manufactured with the 140% standard similar to aircraft parts. As it's oblivious that most trailers are running around overloaded per the vin tags with exceded weight ratings there appears to not really be any big catastrophic part failures from doing it, at least from the feedback on all the different mac forums.

Even the newer models of MacM with Aluminum Trailer is under rated for total weight you will pull. The Tandem is a much easier trailer to pull your boat and no sway.
Sure there is more maintance and cost more thru toll booths but trailering a boat long distance requires peace of mind and relax.
Get a flat on single trailer axel is much more dangerious and safer on twins.
Also much more carry weight on the double axel.
Those who launch in salt waters also have a marginal safety from rusted springs and other parts.
Buying a Tandem aluminum Trailer will cost you $3500-4000 depending if you want one axel disk brakes.
The newer M trailer still has the steel toung and steel rims. (not Galvanized)
Ck out the bolts and fastners for saltwaters.
I personally know of a few Macs with stock trailers that have failed.
Better Yet ,do a search on this site in archives and you will find many failures.
