In South Carolina? That's not right. You need to be in the Bahamas.

Right now, I'm pretty sure my boat is covered in snow and ice.

Crikey I thought it was bad enough near Alice Springs one year (centre of Aust) when it was -5c (23f) in the boat but only -3c (26.6f) in the fridge, we should have slept in the fridge
We got under way pretty quick to get out of the desert country and lovely warm, hate cold.

Ice is bad, but its the frost that always gets me. When its iced up it's usually pretty miserable out so we tend to stay at the dock. When it frosts over its always beautiful out and we push to get south for the weekend, and trying to manoeuvre on a frost cover deck is not fun. I'd be better off soaping the topside up and leave out the rinse cycle. It melts off pretty quick once we hit the sunny side of the canal.

Went to have a look at the boat last week for the first time since putting it to bed for the winter. It was surrounded by 3 feet of snow and the tarp was a bit loose but weighted down by ice and snow. I said screw it and went home

We live on a farm and my driveway is like a half mile long and heavily wooded and I had 3 trees come down and I needed the batteries out of my Mac because my back hoe batteries were weak .I was just gonna push the trees out of the way but I wasn't gonna break the slides on the boat getting into i had to cut them up with the chain saw but it made me think what a pain in the butt it could be ..or if anybody ever woke up.stuck on there boat . our power company is changing all our power poles here on the island and giving away all the ones they took down .they dropped about thirty off here for me to build a boat shed for the boat .but then again this Charleston s.c I shouldn't be discussing a iced over boat ....

I keep an electric heater in the boat right below the hatch, with a heavy extension cord hanging out. If hatch is frozen, I plug in the extension cord and wait a while. Of course, tonight we are getting freeing rain so if we lose electricity goes out, that plan won't work! Worse yet: The generator is in the boat!

Yikes! I would think that the weight of an inch or more layer of ice would be a serious threat to the stability of a boat if it happened to be in the water, especially if ballast was out.
The thermometer finally rose to above freezing here today, it actually felt quite balmy, so we celebrated with an ice cream cone! :D

I love free shore power. Was off work for snowpocapalis last week...Thursday shoveled the dock off (no one had touched it :? ) cranked the heat and spent the night.
