Hot Showers
Does anyone have any info on the self contained propane showers? What works good. Where to get best price etc?
Thanks

That coleman one looks very nice. The way it is vented, just slots in the plastic casing must mean it doesn't get very hot to the touch. I could see setting it in the cockpit without worry of it getting bumped. I wouldn't take it below as propane is just not a good thing down at the sink. I could see plumbing in a hot/cold faucet at the sink and running a feed back to a quick connector in the cockpit. You connect up the heater running out in the cockpit and have hot water at the sink. This looks pretty simple to do using a fitting like the shower one.
Includes the pump and rechargable battery with 12v charger.
Now I have to pick between it or one of the zodi stove top uits that will use the heat from our stove.
Decisions, decisions.

Gotta agree, DD, that Coleman unit looks very good. In fact, though Zodi is a sentimental favorite (watching them for 5 years now), their product is looking pretty "backwoods" compared to the big guys.Duane Dunn, Allegro wrote:That coleman one looks very nice. I'm still leaning toward the Zodi stove top. We can use it below on our two burner alcohol stove. No extra heat sources to mess with. Easy to plumb in a removeable connection to our existing pressure water system. Handy right next to the sink and a simple hose to shower in the head or the cockpit. Cheaper at only $89. The other choice would be the portable extreme unit that we could also heat on the stove. Having it's own separate portable tank could be useful for the muddy, wet fell in the water kid and clothing problems
I know my wife would want to use the Coleman right at the sink, and I wouldn't let her bring the propane into the cabin.

Can't solve the cost problem, but the other is easy ... just remove that spigot and replace w/ a small diam hose.Duane Dunn, Allegro wrote: . . . wife would want to use the Coleman right at the sink, and I wouldn't let her bring the propane into the cabin.
I've always thought that a shower curtain over a plastic tub ... right between galley and head ... would provide best combination of stand-up and elbow room. After reading the "Small Boat Shower" article posted by danpatch, this idea looks easier by the minute.
Still need that generator & watermaker though . . .
