Greenwood Lake NJ/NY sailors

Post by jmann »

Hi All
My wife and I are about to pull the trigger, finally. Our choices are down to X's, M's or the Mast 28. South Shore Marina has a couple of used 2002 X's, the M and the Mast 28 and we'll be going up in the next several weeks to sign on the dotted line. I have a feeling we'll be getting the the M as thats my wifes preference. I like everything but that dang head!
The questions are:
1) Does anyone have any experience with South Shore Marina?
2) Anyone sail on Greenwood lake?
I look forward to your responses,
Joel

Joel,
have you tried asking about getting the Fitted Marine Head Option instead of the cheap portable one ?

It's pricing is detailed on the following webpage :

Extra bucks yes...buy maybe worth it in the long-run.

I bought my 2000X from SSM in Dec 02. The folks at SSM are very professional and I was very pleased with the transaction. They kept the boat in storage until I picked it up in May 03. My son and I arrived Saturday morning. One of their employees worked with us all Saturday afternoon, rigging, launching and sailing the boat. We then stayed overnight on the boat. Then they spent Sunday from 9AM to 2PM retrieving, de-rigging and prepping the boat for transportation. Every aspect was done in great detail and they wanted to make sure that everything was correct.

Their after sale support was also excellent. I called them a few times and they were always very helpful.

Nancy, who runs the place, is very detailed and wants to make sure that the customer is happy.

I sailed the entire Lake Saturday evening. It is a very pretty lake, with nice homes along the shore. However, I thought the lake a litte too small for extended sailing. Of course, with the Mac it is easy to explore other waters.

I very much recommend SSM.

Good luck!!

South Shore is a great dealer, Nancy is an expert when it comes to questions about the X, not sure about the M.
