Trailer Tongue Replacement

Post by jimmy alonso »

Back in July noticed weird bubbles on the tongue so went and got a hammer
and gave it a whack with a hammer and it went right in.

So removed tongue painted and sanded rest of trailer with red oxide primer

Purchased a 3" X 3" X 1/4" galvanized tube was lucky to get just the size needed most places wanted to sell 20 feet.
New tongue is 9 inches longer.

Its been more than 15 years since I welded anything so had some trouble with that.

Looks like a great repair job. but don't for get to check the axle, and the bolts for the bunks while your at it, and then the brackets for the tail lights and the wheel hubs and bearings, and then, and then, and then..........and then you might get to go sailing
