One hole too many!

Post by hoaglandr »

I've been busy drilling holes in LazyDayz while I work on my electrical mods. In the process I have removed the Hawkeye Depth Finder which was mounted in the cockpit on the port side of the companionway hatch. It was a good spot for the admiral to keep an eye on it but the new dodger covered it up. I am going to remount it on the pedestal where she can't see it as well. :D

My question - what's the best way to cover the 2" hole where the Hawkeye used to be? I need to figure something out because even though the hole doesn't show right now, eventually the admiral is bound to notice. :?

I'm thinking some kind of deck plate would do the trick, but haven't been able to find anything that size unless I go with a more expensive deck fill type fitting, which seems like overkill to me.

While I'm at it, anyone know a good source for in-line fuse holders?

Thanks,
Russell

Why not just use a plastic plug, like those used on the interior of the Mac's? You can find them at Home Depot, Lowes, Sears Hardware, etc.

Maybe, but yours was more amusing!

Here's a link to Grainger's... they have a pack of 25 for $4.14, made in USA... can't beat the price or ease of fix.

2" is the perfect size for a round gauge of some sort i.e. analogue clock, a voltmeter, hourmeter or such like...

Kevin - thanks for the link - that should do the trick!

Buell - the hole is hidden behind my new dodger - it can't be seen but I still need to seal it up. (Hmm.....maybe that would be a good place for the mother-in-law pic!)

My depth finder was there but is now being relocated to the pedestal so I can see it!

Thanks,

I recall seeing some dummy gage faces to plug holes in consoles and instrument panels. In fact, I have one in my CC instrument panel. But the grainger plugs look like they would work nicely.

If it's on the outside, don't forget to seal that plug to keep water out.
