What to do with old sails

I have some old sails from a boat I don't use anymore. I hate to toss them. Any ideas how to recycle them?

Any Sea Scouts in the area? In Seattle we have the Wooden Boat Center which gives classes in how to build boats--anything similar in your neck of the woods. Also maybe a local sailoft may have some ideas.

Good thought; good thought. But I've stripped the old M20 and it has not been used in years. It is sitting on its trailer surrounded by weeds. I don't think it has a market value anymore.

By the way, I found a Butterfly sailboat on the trailer for $150. It is in nice shape. Great boat for the kids.

I have a 14 ft Scow style sailboat that is now not used since we got the Mac 26x.

I had it in dry slip storage in hopes of getting a wet slip locally for the Mac but that didn't work out. We finally decided it was too expensive to keep the scow in dry storage plus it was degrading in the elements.

I am thinking about seeing if my brother is interested in it.

I just hate to see it turn into junk as I put a lot of work into restoring it about 4 years ago.

Can't easily keep it at the house because of "Covenants"

most old boats that have a trlr and sails can be sold, as don suggests, give it a try

Old sails can be sold, traded, or given away.

You can also make duffel bags, tote bags, carryalls, and other gear. eep the bolt rope for handles on totes, rings and other findings also can be used.

One guy converts old sails into sun shades and they look really neat. A lady up here uses the fabric to make new seats in directors chairs and other seating where fabric has been worn out.
