Hello all,
did Macgregor ever do a video of the X being built, like the one he did for the M? I bought the video and as a engineer, I was more interested in the building process than the sailing portion (I know I'm a sick puppy). I'm now leaning hard towards the and would like to check out the build process for it as well.
On another note, what are the pros and cons of portable vs "hard plumbed" heads.
thanks
Chris

Pros of porti potty - you can take it out and bring it home to dispose of waste in your own toilet.
Cons of porti potty - you have to take it out and bring it home to dispose of waste in your own toilet.
Seriously, it's nice not having to find a place to pump it out and pay pump out fees. Of course there's less stuff that can break than on a permanent system.
I've used permanent systems on other boats but I don't really know enough about them to give pros and cons. I'm perfectly happy with the porta potti setup for our family so I've never really investigated it.

Before you go for the X check out the 2003 and 4
Porta Potti suggestion....I carry it off the boat in a nice looking Florida canvas beach bag with a zipper. Choose a bag that fits as perfectly as possible and you can dump it in any WC whilst looking smart in your tropical dress whites
I went to the illustrious member site, but the video link seems to have moved.
Yes, sounds like the porta potty will probably work best for us; at least for now.
Thanks
Well that's weird. I didn't try to stream it, I just right clicked saved as and something loaded up so I assumed it was the video. But it won't play so I guess not. I should have checked that before I posted the link. Sorry.
Hi Chris,
if You decide to have a toilet with a portable tank like the PortaPotty have a look at the one build by Dometic aswell. They are very much alike the PP however if You are not satisfied with a portable toilet the Dometic can be modified to a stationary one. You will find mods like this if You search the pages. In adition You can precharge the flushing water and You don´t have to pump after each busyness .
I was going to try and avoid opening this post, but when I saw the list of responses growing, I figured I'd investigate. My original reaction to the subject title was me thinking some sicko was trying to place a video camera in the head.
Yes,
But waterless crapper has over 600 hits and we just have to try and be competitive here! The Readers digest comment was appreciated (could have included a picture tho!)!
