Antifoul removal in WA
I have a
that is now "moored" on its trailer in my driveway and no longer in need of the speed sapping antifoul that covers the bottom of the hull. Does anyone have any contacts for the safe removal of the antifoul back to gelcoat and an approximate cost. Location Marmion, Perth WA.

No replies as yet. My own research at the yacht club is to use soda blasting. This however will set you back around $1500. For the moment I have decided to live with the antifoul.

I just found your post to remove your Anti-fowling, we live on the balancing coastline from you and shall be getting ours removed this winter when we won't be on the water as much, my research also came up with soda-blasting being the gentlest way to remove the old coats of paint, If it's safe enough for the Statue of Liberty it should be safe enough for our
our local soda-blaster warned me that any scratches in the gelcoat can cause the laminate to lift, the onus is on us to mark every scratch so he could avoid them.
I have been thinking of experimenting on a small area around the swing keel case with some automotive paint stripper and see how that goes first, if that works I'll drape heavy plastic over the trailer, remove the guards, goal posts and lights and go for it.
If you are in no hurry to get yours removed I'll let you know how it goes.
