I'm an "almost" owner. I have a 1984 Mac 22. Current project is topside painting.

I need to build a new galley and table for mine this spring. I would love to see pictures of what others have done. I will post some when I get going on it.

We owned a '71, V-222, one of the early years of production. Had her for five years. Tough boat. Harbor hopped one year, for a week, from Santa Barbara to San Diego. Sailed to Catalina a bunch of times. I imagine she's still out there someplace making someone else happy. Fair Winds and Full Sails...Old Salt

I own a 84? V-22, I bought it last year in October, and have had it out maybe 8 times since. so far I like it, only problem I currently have is rain gets in somewhere and it is driving me nuts trying to figure out where. I guess I will end up having to go sit in the boat during a storm.....

How did I miss this thread before?
I re-activated a '71 V222 to the open road and hope to put her in the open water this spring.
If I can get my 11 year old grandson to scrap and paint that cramped bow space, I should have her ready to go this spring.

After a season's experience on the water, I will have a better idea how the captain wants her cabin laid out.
Painting and warped wood removal are about all I plan to do until next fall. (And if I'm lucky, fall will last until Thanksgiving!) :)

We have a 1976 V2-22 and purchased it just about a year ago. The guy we bought it from would not sell the freshly re upolstered cushions. However, about a month later we saw them on Craigs list and went back and bought them too. The sliding galley shown in the modifications section should go in next weekend when we get out in the upper 50s at Stockton Lake, Missouri.

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum and a new Venture 2-22 owner as of this weekend - picked up a 1977 model in fair condition that I plan on fixing/restoring - first order of business is a stem to stern cleaning to see what I've gotten myself into - lol. We are located in Thunder Bay, Canada on the western shore of Lake Superior - I'd love to meet other owners in the area to talk boat.. :)

Welcome Scott!

I sailed up your way in a full keeled sailboat about 8 years ago and truly enjoyed it. I spent 5 days fogged in at Thompson Island that lovely place just off your bay. I left when the coffee ran out :) Congratulations on your new boat, and if you need something specific, look around the site or ask. There is a lot of sailing knowledge on this site but sometimes you need to be patient. Enjoy the new MacGregor and if you ever sail down by Mackinac Island let me know.....Scott

Hi Scott,
I purchased a 77 as well last summer and am doing a rebuild/modification. The boat was/is in rough shape. I gutted the interior as my first "cleaning" project then started from there. To get where I want the boat to be will take at least 2 more summers.

Hi again,
Learning on how to post pics and need to get beyond the 10 post threshold !
My "project boat" is in the water but looks best from more than 30 feet.

Thanks guys! I've done a surf around the site and I must say there is a TON of info! Brian: I hear you about the boat looking best from 30' - mine isn't quite that bad you can get as close as about 10' to mine before you start to see things - lol.
