Renting a Tow Vehicle?

Post by Scott »

Why wont anyone rent me a full size SUV with a ball hitch.

I've got to move my daughter down to Nashville in 2 weeks and none of the rental companies have anything that has a tow hitch.

Yeah yeah, I understand liability but its nearly a thou to rent a good box van and I have only need for slightly more than a cargo van.

Scott whats wrong with renting a UHaul van or similar vehicle? Other than that just rent a full size truck van or suv and buy a ball for the bumper. They will never know if you take it off after you use the truck.

Is she stating at Vandy? Or, is she looking to break into country music?

There's always the option of driving your CB-equipment beast of a pick'em up truck... Its prolly what 8-9 hrs between you and Nashville. That's a haul on an 'experienced' truck.

I drive about 3.5 hrs beyond Nashville a couple times a year, visiting family. Its not too bad if you can spread it over 2 days...

Go check em out . The ones I have seen, Expeditions and Denali had hitches from the factory / square box receiver and you most likely have the ball and the adapter.

I'm sure there was a thread on this.

Someone said all uhauls have a clause in the contract that says no towing.

I brought Catigale back from MASS with a Uhaul truck as it was the only way to get a tow solution via rental (my truck wasnt ready yet)

one way rental was about 150 USD 6 years ago IIRC.

A rental car/truck/SUV all exclude towing in my experience

When the kamikaze mail lady ran into my work truck, I tried to rent a vehicle. All the rental folks were happy to take my money but said no towing or hauling, even if it was a pickup or a van. I am from the South and I may be a little bit country but why would you want a pickup, if you were not going to haul or tow something? :|

The same Reason people put chromed cadillac escalades only on pavement.

Its still a suburban damnit!!!

It should be towing something.

but tell me.......

Has anyone (In person) seen an escalade ever tow a real load? I know I can find a pic on the internet.........But I am talking for real.

My neighbors tow work trailers, horse trailers, and boats with excursions and expeditions......

But I have not seen an Escalade towing.... maybe no one out where I live can afford one.

The Escalade is a "Girlie" version of a mans truck. I looked at them carefully for use in my business, there is so much plastic crap in them the storage space is severely cramped. I doubt any macho man would want to own it. So my answer is that we don't see them towing because the owners are using them to get from a health spa to their manicurists.

Scott,
Check this place Interstate Trucks for Trailer Towing. I called them and the guy quoted me $449.00 per week first 1500 miles included or $549.00 per week first 2500 miles included for 3/4 ton crew cab. They have a location in Overland Park if that helps.
