Does anyone have one of these?
Due to the other half of the crew saying she doesn't mind using the motor but the tilting with sails is a problem , it looks like I am going to be doing some single handed sailing.
I have bought one of these and along with all my other controls need to bring all lines aft.
Have had the spinaker since I bought the boat but haven't used it yet so it could be interesting.

I have a snuffer which is North Sails version of the same thing. On mine the control lines are actually one continuous line which you pull in opposite directions depending on whether you want to raise of douse. I am in the same predicament but I havent found a feasible solution. Cutting the line and splicing in extensions which would run aft would bring bring even more clutter into my cockpit (I already have 2 halyards, 2 jib sheets, 2 spin sheets, tack line, daggerboard line and furling line). To add not one but two more lines is something I am not too enthusiastic about.
Then you have the issue of rigging, I dont see how this can be a permanent installation. When the sock is not raised on the halyard, you would need some kind of quick disconnect for the lines then you could tie off the extensions to the rail. The disconnect would have to be compact and rounded so that it would not snag inside the sock.
If you can work this out you are a better man than I. This is the main reason that the biggest project I am contemplating for my boat is an autopilot so I can go forward on a broad reach.
I have the scoop, used it many times, so far always going fwd to open and close the spin. I just set the sheets the way I want before I go fwd.
I have picked up some extra blocks and tackle and am going to play around with some ideas seeing as how everything else I have is set up for lines aft single haded sailing.
Cheers

PS
Search chute scoop and include all terms, you should get lots of hits.

Kelly,
I just got my Raymarine ST4000 MKII AutoPilot last summer before they ran out, best $1100.00 I ever spent. The Admiral likes it more than I do. It won't be the biggest project though as it was not that difficult to install, I only had trouble with the rudder sensor, but got it right in the end. Best spot on the M for the fluxgate is at the foot of the companionway ladder, close to the floor, at least on the '03 model as I have no battery there. (mine faces aft and is mounted behind the ladder inside the hold there.)Still you may try mounting it forward facing (fiberglass is 1/2 inch thick there) with a thermostat cage around it so's nobody steps on it.
Ok had a play in the back yard and besides putting the spinnaker in upside down it works ok (I think) but because I have an extra bracket for carrying my mast higher it could possibly foul that and besides it seems a bit long (spinnaker).
Next question for the experts I see the one on the Mac web site is flown outside the fore triangle is this better(it looks better). As my anchor roller extends a bit further now I could attach it there and put a hound above the forestay hound on the mast.
I imagine doing this I would be able to put a couple of blocks at the bottom to alter height and tension easily, practical? I suppose having it in front of the forestay and jib it would need to be doused prior to tacking?
Sure got some looks and comments from the golfers playing on the course outside the back fence .
