Curtains....!

Looking at getting some curtains installed on 50/50.

I'd like some inspiration. Looked at the mods page but it's probably such a simple and obvious mod that they haven't been posted.

Just interested in different concepts. That's whats it all about surely?

We went really simple.

The rods are your standard white cafe rods sold everywhere. The brass hooks the mount to are secured with the same bolts that hold the plexi windows in. I just removed the white caps, undid the nut, put on the bracket then put the nut back on. I put a dab of silicone under each one to keep them from spinning.

The curtains were just sewn from some stock valance material we picked up. Simple sewn tubes top and bottom. The ends are now trimmed off with seam tape.

We intended to make better curtains at some point as these were a last minute quick project, but now after 3 years these are still working great.

We did pass on the starboard aft window that is half in the cabin and half in the head making it hard to put in rods and a curtain. We simply inserted a bubble wrap filler in the window cavity up against the plexi and used white duck tape to cover the entire window up. If you don't look close you can't even tell there was a window there.

Impressed with what you did with aft starboard window Duane.

I took the white cover cap off the nuts on the window, but the screw is cut flush with the nut. How can you mount anything else to this fixing without repalcing the screw with a longer one?

Gotta love duct tape. It's even better when it comes in colors.

The brass rod brackets are really thin. If you take off the cover, unscrew the nut and remove the white piece behind it that the cover snaps to you can easily fit the brackets and actually have more nut left than you started with.

Your post motivated me to post another mod today...Curtains for 26X. I expect the same techniques would apply to an M or whatever. We chose a bamboo nautical curtain material and figured out how to mount them DIY ...(eric3a don't look now) even the large forward windows. Check it out. Jack

Obviously... There's no need to keep the snap connecter if you're using another fitting...

Hello

I posted some curtain pics on the mods section.

I'm going to redo them this summer. The existing ones are ok they have been there for the last 4 years but I've got a better idea since then.

I've never done curtains ... just don't feel the need ... but must agree that there's quite a bit of heat gain through the horizontal front windows. That's why I especially like baldbaby's idea, a roller sunscreen sold for automotive use. Thx Daniel.
