Radioworld.ca has them on sale $649.00 Can. half price looks like with antenna check the flyer out. I'll call them on friday morn. I've decided not to buy the garmin handheld 76 since reading this post . now looking at the lowrance LMS337CDF 5" $799.00 Can, will have to check & see if this is the newest line. Or the 7" Eagle Fishstrike 2000C $649.00 Can looks the same as the Seachamp 2000C maybe the name was changed for the Canadian Market

Never liked Guiness until several trips to England & Ireland last year - AMAZING!
The Guiness they pour over there is an entirely different brew than found in USA. :o

Very true, Frank. It's like the Cadbury's chocolate you get here - in the US it's made by Hershey's and it's crap... the UK Cadburys is totally different and way better (but even that is not as smooth and rich as a Galaxy chocolate bar! YUM!)

Ford/Chevy: Austin or Triumph
Mac/PC: AntiChrist (PC)
Catalina/Hunter: MacGregor or Boston Whaler
Pepsi/Coke: Bell's Oberon Ale or Victory Hop Devil (or just a homemade Earl-gray iced tea, thanks!)

Its a card that came with a free offer to buy Practical Sailor magazine. If you send it in you get the next months magazine for free. You donot have to subscribe to the magazine. Apparently its a no advertisment mag that tests lots of boat gear and boats. Take a look at their web site WWW.PRACTICAL-SAILOR.COM then click on sample boat reviews to see their opinion of the MAC 26M

Post by albion »

Now I am really confused. You guys cant seem to make your minds up.All have different ideas on GPS. Too much to think about for a newbie like me.So if Duanne is the expert perhaps he can help me choose. I dont know what a boat buck is but I have a budget around $600- 750. BTW THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP AND HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR.

Radioworld.ca have now sold out of the 2000C DF

Does anyone know where I could try. I also need to have it shipped to the UK.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Why not pick up a handheld with map first. After you have used it for a while, buy a perminate one for the boat and keep the handheld for a backup and fur use in the dinghy.

James hit the nail on this one...if you get to big boat cruising you will want a back up in your ditch bag, so you dont 'lose anything' with a handheld at this time For 2/3 of your budget you can get a good plotting handheld and data for your area.

Garmin is what I use, they have Map Source software for the PC included (you still have to buy the charts of course) - this is nice for entering waypoints etc at home and also plotting trip plots

NB..the unlock codes are on the web, but imho this is no different from stealing and I do not advocate anyone doing this.

Just to give you an idea why I am looking to import to the UK.

Cheapest deal I've found in the UK(on special offer) for the 2000C DF is £594.00.! Thats nearly $1200 USD.. :|
