Those 26M's sure look nice going down the road. I just saw one on the road for the first time last Friday in Flint, MI. I was sitting at Starbucks on Miller Rd enjoying my insanely overpriced cup of joe when a blue-hulled M went rolling on by. Anyone on this board trailering their M thru Flint last Friday?
Thanks, whoever you were. Now you've got me thinking about what my 26S would look like if I painted it blue!

There is no doubt in my mind that the ribbing the M26 gets from the racing purists is due to their jealousy about the Mac's versatility. Sure, it is not a racing sailboat but it is a great cruising sailboat and probably the most versatile boat (in general) ever made. I also have gotten many compliments at boat ramps and all other places where racing purists don't hang out at.

There arent a lot of sailboats on the upper Hudson due to draft and tide considerations so I only get compliments up here.
THe critics in my trailer destinations usually fall quiet when I start with 'while we were at Nantucket last week"
...then they want to know how I could be in Ontario this week...

No, I've definetly had some sailing snobs turn up their noses, so the feeling is out there. However, I find that the general public tends to be pretty impressed with my Mac and even many boaters are pleasantly surprised at some of its features and capabilities.David Clarke wrote:I had prepared myself for some of the so call Mac criticism about the boat, but in reality I too have had nothing but positive reactions. Could it's gray cloud be shattered forever?
Like the poor and taxes, idiots and snobs will always be with us. That's life. I keep my self happy by knowing that I can go places with my Mac where nearly all other boats don't have a hope of going... and I can sleep, live comfortably and have fun whilst doing so... and I can do it all for about 1/2 to 1/3 of the price of their boat. So, let them get all puffed-up and turn up their noses... after all, they've paid for the privledge. I just choose to spend my money being happy instead.
