Securite' is a VHF call to general traffic on CH16 to signal your intent in a potentially hazardous situation.
It is just amazing - the things that I learn from reading this board. Good luck replacing your mast, and I would use the insurance company if you have Boat US or similar.

A perfect time to use it is MOB drills

S/V Catigale (repeated twice)
We are conducting MOB drills off buoy 185 in New Baltimore until 1400 hours local time and will monitor 16 and 13 VHF
S/V Catigale out.
(I have an arrangement with my local marina who responds so that the girls here someone come back on the VHF too)
