my centerboard works fine...sometimes.
it's really wierd, on the trailer it'll go up and down very easily.
and usually when i'm in the water & still without any lateral pressure, it falls just like in the video.
however, sometimes at sea, i cannot get it to go down.
so i let the rope flow out freely and, sure enough, a minute or two later it drops just like it's suppose to.
usually it seems that there's too much forward or lateral pressure on the hull (and CB). once the pressure subsides, the board usually drops cleanly.
i don't have an answer for why yours did not drop.
the manual (and many threads in the archives) will give you the method to drop completely while on the trailer, clean up, replace the rope, etc.
it's a fairly straight forward job that most anyone can do.

. Today was a beautiful day to be out in the Sound, Puget Sound. We sailed for a about 5.5 hours. The best sail I can remember in a long time. We have not had any problems with our X in 6 years, however, today after a great day of wind we powerd back towards Brownsville about 4 miles out we started having motor problems. No big deal we'll just sail into the marina. Wrong!! Our center board refused to come back down. $300.00 and 4 hours later I'm here, thinking to myself who in the world experiences problems that takes both forward abilities away from a powersailor?? Could have been much worse. I still am thankful for the great sail today and have no regrets. Now can some body give me a quick fix for the centerboard on a 2000X
