I have have just got delivery of my Dehler 25(1986) but will still be keeping my M . The Dehler has a combination of waterballast( 400kg )and a cast iron keel(400kg) which offers more stiffness than my M.It is similar to the Mac in numerous ways:Trailable, mast raising kit(although the mast weighs about double that of the M and takes about 15 minutes longer to erct),waterballast, lifting keel, orego cooker. The boat comes with 2 interchangeable rudders and has a sea toilet and basin fitted in the heads.
The boat is extremely light on the rudder.

Dehler?
I had to do a google search to see what a Dehler was, need pics.
Nice looking boat, German made, good trailer, nice interior etc. Only negative I could see was no living use of space under the cockpit like the MacGregor. I have seen this on other boats as well, not all builders make as efficient use of the aft berth area in smaller boats like Macgregor does. Especially like the 26M which is cavernous back there. I noticed all specs and prices were in metrics and foreign currency so I could not get a very good comparison. Appears to be nice boat though, you must have got a good price being 1986 model.

That's cause most builders use a more conventional freeboard dimension ...Terry wrote: . . . not all builders make as efficient use of the aft berth area in smaller boats like Macgregor does.
means the only available space under the cockpit is lazzarette and/or bilge.
OK, I googled it too. I found their website and I was looking at some of their designs - just for kicks. I came across this pic:
VAN DE STADT 107
Tell me... does it look like the aft cabins have bidets?

The Dehler does not have the interior space of the Mac as there is no full standing headroom and no rear berths as mentioned by Terry. I bought her as she sails well and outpoints most boats I have sailed on.(the previous owner had her out in a F8 with no problems).I can sail her single handed as all lines lead aft and easy to handle. If I need the space and motoring speed for family and mates I will use the Mac although there is more cockpit space in the Dehler as there is no wheel. You can pick up Dehler25 in fair condition for about $27000. The boat is designed by Van de Stadt.
The Mac and Dehler are a great compromise.
No bidets on my boat though.
