Hull Color

On the first day going to look at the M26 with my wife I wanted the white. She saw the blue! that was it! We ordered the boat that day. I wasnt gonna complain, I got my sailboat

And all this time I thought I had a black boat with really wide white strips. I guess it's all in how one sees things.

The Blue is beautiful on the new Macs...but I prefer white: cooler, and not so scratchable.

But keeping it looking like that for me would be traumatic. . . so we got the white boat with Maroon Sail Covers so far and Blue Fenders. Kind of comes across Red White and Blue

I chose white, because I think it looks more traditional, more classic, and because I think it will be cooler in the Houston sun. Also, I see lots of older boats in which the colors have faded, looking like junk. - Don't know whether the blue MacGregors would end up looking like that, of course.

Nauti-Moment.... blue is not a warm color, it is cool, coldest color there is.
But as a pigment color, it does absorb more energy than white. That energy makes it fade, pass heat into the boat, and "slip thru the water faster" ( NOT )

......if you are ever rammed after dark, the blue won't have done anything to help your visibility to other craft.

ALX357.....sorry that you took my banter seriously, of course you are right regarding the color. It does make it warmer inside and thus if you live in a hotter area this could be a concern. You will also have to keep the hull waxed with a good UV protectorant to ensure it does not fade. I like the color, it is classy, but requires much more maintenance. Mark show up much easier than the white. If we did it again we would probably get the white, thus my vote for white.

You are also right that the darker hull color is harder to see at night against the darker land masses and sea. I guess I am counting on my navigation lights, running light and hopefully sails to catch there attention.

I've always wondered how come MacGregor never made the swag-stripe across the front in different colors.... it would have been easy to do in the mold. The black is so severe.. would have looked really nice had that been available blue, deep red, forest green, etc. Hmmm... I may yet paint ours... who knows...

Now that looks very much like my boat except I have the silver Honda engine. I also have the pacific blue bimini to match the blue sail cover. I can just imagine how nice she's going to look with a blue dodger added as well. The end certainly justifys the means in this case, I am willing to do the extra maintenance the blue hull requires. Now I know why I voted blue.

Pictures like those are at least part of the reason Roger sells soooo many Blue M's . . Hard to get much prettier when new or. . at
a distance. .

I love the look of the blue hull. Absolutely stunning. But I would buy a white. Here in Florida the lighter the better. We have an X and I wish we had no black on it at all.

But for looks....go blue
