We now have confirmation. User 1000 is adm (Kaz) -- a real live (previously not on the board) human.
I propose an award for the first member with 4 digit membership number.
Now, where's that party?

Thank You for nice welcome and I gladly accept 1000 memeber virtual award.
The occasion warrants acceptance speech and to make it short I would like to congratulate all existing members for creating great, profesional and welcoming atmosfere on this board - the deciding factor to join.
As for my introduction my name is Kaz. I live in west suburbs of Chicago, do not have boat at the moment (but considering Mac despite Admiral or rather in my case Commander in Chief opinion that we need something way bigger), have engineering type personality and can be very opinionated as some may already find out. I learned sailing quite long time ago - enough to forget how to do it. I am glad I joined so I can learn again in good company.

You would have to know my Commander in Chief. She is frugal and thrifty. When it comes to computers, I would spend unlimited dollars to have servers, networks and the latest and greatest gadgets. So when I want to buy tech toys, it gets down to a dance I have to go through that looks like two birds going through a mating dance. Feathers puffed, fancy footwork, wings flapping and a cooing sound. Flowers the day before always helps.adm wrote:in my case Commander in Chief opinion that we need something way bigger
Last year I was in Best Buy scoping the latest gadgets and doing preliminary planning on the dance steps to use on the Commander to get some new toys. All of a sudden my mouth dropped to the floor while I witnessed a wife making demands on her husband for the fastest PC with the biggest storage and the biggest screen. I stood there coveting this guy's wife.
So I always admire women who want something "way bigger." Well, on second thought, I guess there are some qualifications on that statement.
If my Commander ever sees this post, she will remind me that if it were not for her thrifty nature, I would probably be sailing a 10' sailboat right now and not a Mac. I love that woman.

I agree 100%. If not for the women man would live very miserable, malnutritioned and unhealthy life, but we (man) have to learn "steps". My wife is very frugal (and I am too). This is in our blood since birth. We both came from the same foreign city about which legend says that was founded by people banned from Scotland for excessive parsimony. To her credit she is also very resonable in spending when comes to value for money and do not object luxuries if we can afford them. As most people we have limited means and we always try to live within those constraints.
