Honda Marine & MacGregor 26X

Hi all,
Been away for awhile, so this may be old news, but......
I was just looking at the Honda Marine outboard site and ran into this.
A pretty good plug for Mac IMHO. (notice the boat pictured)

What is that white fiberglass-looking thing the motor is mounted on....( at the transom of the MacX in the photo on the linked Honda site ? )

Optical illusion...... look carefully.
When I first looked, after reading your post, I did say to myself "yeah, what is that thing". After a second look, it's only the lighting and the way the rudder heads seem to look in the photo.

Good to hear from you, it has been a while. What kind of boat "floats your boat now" or rather what do you have your eye on? Any particular one. I've got my eye on the 97-99 Hunter 310's and hope to be in one next spring. I ran up with you back on the Catalina 22 list and moved to my 26X in 02 after you and just thought we might be on the same wave lenght again.

I was just talking to another friend of mine up in Vegas this morning about lifting his Capri off the trailer. I dug up several old pics from the "C-22 Project" web site (remember it? I turned the boat upsidedown and completely refinished the hull).

Anyway....... Suddenly it hit me (and shocked me a little). That was back in '95 or '96. That's going on ten years now! Wow.

Great that we keep E-running into eachother over the years.

You know, my mother passed a little over a year ago (Ashville NC.) and I flew into Raleigh Duram and drove up to Ashville from there. I actually thought about you when the plane was touching down. Told my wife one of my E-mail boat buddies lived in Raleigh.
'Course, didn't have yer info with me. Could've called you and had a fase to face. Hindsight's 2020 right.

Good to hear from a fellow sailor who started all this about the same time.



Anyway

I'm actually thinking small. I'm looking for a good 26D right now.
I am (SHHHHHHHHHH mum's the word) saving for this, however. (link below) might take a lotto win before it happens though. But I'm dreaming it.

You might take a serious look. She's a real pretty baby. Fact is I think Columbia picked my brain, tuned into my dreams or something, 'cause this is the picture in my mind of the perfect sailboat.
Trailerable to boot! (big SUV or pickup).

I had always hoped Roger MacGregor would build something like this, only with his mass production budget mindedness. They don't call him "The Scottman" @ the factory for nothing you know.
I might be able to afford a MacGregor version of this boat right now.

All you Mac owners who are looking to move up should start pushing Roger for an upgrade boat. That's the problem with MacGregor. He gets tons of people started in sailing (bless him), but he doesn't have a place for loyal customers to move up to. They end up with Hunter or Catalina or some other brand who builds 30 footers.

Did you check out the launch procedure for that boat? It looks mighty scary to me. Since you can't push a rope how do you control which way that trailor is going to turn? How long of an approach to the ramp do you need to launch that thing?
