New Here and Awesome Swim Platform

Post by goodguy2k »

Hey all - I'm a new member that needs no convincing - a 26X is definitely the boat for me and my family! Now to find the perfect one!

I've been doing tons of research regarding these boats and upgrades/modifications that folks have been doing and I'm intrigued by adding/modding a swim platform that integrates well.

In searching the various For Sale classifieds, I came across this one with what I think is an awesome swim platform and I'm interested if anybody knows this boat or whether this platform is custom or can be purchased. Boat is located in Ontario, CAD - and I have no interest/ownership etc.

There are more photos in the sale ad - not sure the rules if I can link to that.

Thanks in advance and I'm looking forward to getting involved with the community!

No idea about the boat or the platform other than to say it looks like an older model "X". Unless it has some sort of an arch I have no idea what those aft supports are attached to.

In any case, welcome aboard!

Thanks Bill - its great to be here! Can't wait to get my feet wet - literally!

Yes, the listing shows this as a 1997 so I guess second year of production? How can you tell its an older model X?

Also yes, the listing photo below shows it has a pretty substantial arch with solar panels and, I'd assume the ability to lift the dinghy by davits?

That looks like a hefty arch. Probably strong enough for a lot of weight.

Swim platform seems to attach to the arch for support.

Welcome to the forum. Don't forget to browse the mods and resources pages.

Good,
To answer your question on knowing the age of the various X’s is to look at the rudder brackets. The ‘96 and ‘97 model had the black brackets. The ‘98 and forward had the stainless brackets. The rudder are also rounded at the tips versus squared off on the later models. Hope that helps.

There is another company, Profusionmarine.com, that makes a platform that connects to the engine mount. It’s made in the USA. I made a copy of theirs that I really like. Happy sails to be, tony

I thought I remembered this topic before, and not so long ago.
