A few boat stuff updates

Post by Ixneigh »

Hi everyone. Ive been using the boat quite a bit but not going very far afield.
Here are some updates on some stuff Ive had on the boat.

Water based nonskid. Yes, its rough. After applying it nearly everywhere on deck, someone mentioned that my boat looked like a skateboard. :D I put the stuff literally anyplace Ive ever slipped. Love it. Stuff adheres well to pretty much everything. Metal, gelcoat, plastic. Seems to be holding up well. Much better than Durabak, and easier to apply. Water clean up.

Heavy duty rudder brackets. Still not thick enough, mine have a very slight bend, despite my new rudder pivot system which decreases loading on the plates drastically. I have not really sailed the boat hard either. They are better than the factory ones, to be sure. My factory ones were very bent. These are just slightly bent.

Tohatsu 20, motor downgrade. Its taken some time to adjust my habits back to having a smaller motor. What it lacks in grunt, it makes up in finesse. It does particularly well in the three to four knot range which with me is nearly always. No regrets.

My giant (mast) balls. Yep, still balling! No problems, mast pivots easily.

Computer cooling pump galley pump, runs on 12v makita battery. Wonderful. Maybe charge the battery once a month. I live on the boat full time from nov to may. Its hooked to a pressure switch you can operate with your knee. Simple anf cheap.
