‘Cleatergreeter’ for docking easy

Post by WinSome »

We use what we call the cleatergreeter to keep our docking safe and easy. I’m certain many of you already use a similar setup. A length of dock line with loop-end, a customized length of line with a reaching pole/handle, ending in a large (managed) loop used to greet the ( dock) cleat. Here’s a sampling.

I find I can single-handed easily into a dock, grab a cleat and snug right into the dock, then step ashore and cleat our lines.

You’ll need to mess around a bit to get the line length just right for your situation. On our cruiser we used a line run forward to the bow, and we could grab a cleat from the cockpit. Our X line is looped over a winch. I make these ‘cleatergreeter’s’ using a variety of found materials. ⛵️
