I hope you don’t mind that I leveled out the horizon to show the real heel of the boat, and enhanced the color a bit. I was impressed with this photo.

Thanks for improving the pic. As backstory: It was taken on Hamilton Harbour, showing the Skyway bridge in the background. Malcolm was filming us from his Mac M. Bob and I had depowered the main to pace Malcolm, then pulled alongside and exchanged cell numbers, then pics. We’ve since sailed together a couple of times. I’ve a wee video of this, but need to sort out how to post that.

That's significantly over hull speed. Tell us about how you were rigged and the conditions.

Dang! That's bathtub water temps.

I hit 7mph once going downwind with heavy winds. I'm sure we started to come up on plane. Trying to stop was a trick. The genny didn't want to furl back in.

Sailing in the Texas 200 this event 2023 was a blast and totally challenging. 5 day event and I believe this was the 2 nd day. winds were 20 to 25 knots at the start of the day. I have blowout my Macgregor sails years ago and sail with a reefed Hobie 16 main and jib I have laying around. The jib is rigged to the to the inner rig attachment point where we also attach the mast rasing system.One thing I have notice is I able to sail closer to the wind with this set up. So the whole day 40 some odd boats are trying to hang onto there butts to make it to the next planned camp sailing strait down wind and having a blast if your rigging is strong enough. One of the other sailors took this shot of me along the way. I would say about 4 hours later in the day after the shot was taken the wind picked up to 30 knots no joking and most of the sailers were beaching there boats at this time around 3:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon. I was bound and determine to make it to the next camp when my jib self ferils like a toco. that always happens when the wind jumps over 35 knots. I have experienced this before having sailed Hobie cats sense I was a teenag. Then having no jib I lost sterring and could not hold a course I loosed the main sheet stopper knot so the main could pay out far out as it can go. had no choice now to start the motor head up wind to beach the boat. What a ride!
