Does forgetting about hoisting the sails and applying more throttle to the engine count as an alternative?🤔😉🙄😎😎

Wow I to have complained to the admiral we should not load down to much to achieve more speed . This was right after purchasing the boat . Now I have almost given up on my relentless pursuit of sailing speed on this Macgregor. 1mile an hour might be achieved ether way changing out sails . I said almost I guess it’s just in our nature to go as fast as we can motor or sail. Coming from sailing catamarans most of my life sailing fast on a Mac is just a dream unfulfilled .

I feel your pain. Pre-Mac my go-to (and go-fast) boat was a very fast beach cat. There was a significant adjustment period requiring a major reset of my expectations re: speed under sail. :D

I can speak from experience after upgrading my M to the BWY flat top main and performance jib. It was a total game changer. Significant improvement in speed, less heel on all points of sail, accelerates in the puffs instead of more heel and no significant increase in speed. Points significantly higher.

That link is a "mail chimp' reply link, which expires rapidly. It's meant to trace the receiver's email response.
