For reefing the mainsail do you just hook the reefing eye on the hook on the mast just next to where the boom attaches or do you need a piece of line?
At what approximate wind speed is reefing necessary on a 26m?

There is one more step if you have a main with slugs. You need to remove the sail track stop so as to allow the required sail slugs to slide lower than the opening in the track. Without that, you won’t be able to lower the Main enough to reef.

I used 550 cord loops on the reefing eyes. Seemed to work pretty good.

Now, through the reefing holes in the sail, either pass some cord through so as to tie around the boom, or use Bungie cords to wrap around the boom.
