VHF with bluetooth headset...

hi again gang,

Does anyone have any experience with bluetooth headsets and vhf radios, heading toward profoundly deaf here and with hearing aids normal conversation is fine but i will be lost i'm sure, based on my flying experience, with vhf chatter.

Any comments, suggestions, ideas, etc appreciated.

I hear ya!

Getting older ears isn’t one of the things I’d planned on either.
While these aren’t Bluetooth I’ve enjoyed similar ones when I used to fly (younger days )….
They worked well back then and we’re gonna dig them out to try on our boat vhf radio this year as I can’t easily make out what is coming out over the existing speaker. If they work out I’ll add wiring and jacks to the aft console and up at the bow hatch.
There may be an impedance mismatch though that I need to check first.
No sense letting good equipment languish… even if it does come with a wire!



If your heart is set on an all in one Bluetooth wireless VHF radio on a headset though it might take a bit more digging to find…
There are several speakers available that seem to be popular but not many Bluetooth headphones that I’ve seen.

After some thought i believe you are right Mr(s) Overeasy, hard wire to console and put a hanger there for a headset. Wired headsets aren't terribly expensive and should easily do the job. I find with ordinary 'stereo' headphones that complete over the ear has worked best because it then includes the hearing aid mikes to supplement my heariing as i need it.
