Another successful boating season in the books! This summer didn't pan out the way I expected, with an unexpected month of helping out an ill family member on the other side of the country. Even with that interruption, I was still able to enjoy a bunch short local trips plus a week of having the boat on anchor at the backyard beach of our rented vacation house near Cedar Point.
I left the marina a half hour *after* the deadline at 4pm on October 27th and hauled the 26X home where she'll wait for warmer weather.
The boats got pressure washed earlier this week, and mostly emptied of extraneous stuff. The X got its winter cover on today.

Where did you stow the mast and boom? This will be the first season I store my S in the yard and was planning on tarping it right to the mast and trailer like I've done with all of my previous boats. This is less than ideal, but I really don't want to buy, build, and store a whole a-frame structure just for storage.

I have a 6' tall wooden fence in part of my backyard and I laid the mast on top of the 4x4 posts, locking it in with a couple of short 2x4 blocks screwed onto the 2 fence posts. I'm going to acquire some corrugated pipe to stash the genoa and furler in but for now, the sail is resting on the mast.
I'm planning on working inside the tarp in the coming months and the mast is in the way. The winter projects I'm looking to complete are: moving the 2 deep cycle batteries forward, placing them in battery boxes, and run new wires to the outboard and fuse panel. Then I'll be extending the anchor locker to fit my FX11 Fortress anchor. I will drill the front edge and apply a short pvc tube/cap to contain the shaft. I'll also cut and install new acrylic side covers for the helm steering box. Finally, if I get to it, I want to buy and install a new stereo because only half the speakers are working and the face covers are yellowed and brittle from sun damage.

A bit at a time, I'm going to upload pics from this season in reverse order from when they occurred.
Quick pressure wash a day or two after haul out... she never really got cleaned before the season so the topsides were pretty funky. The bottom only had a bit of algae around the waterline.
So much dirt and funk easily vanquished by the Honda pressure washer.
I vacuumed out the gross bilge water from all compartments and removed the batteries for winter storage/ trickle charge.
Sail from the marina to Presque Isle State Park marina boat ramp on October 27. Light wind and easy sailing. The lower shroud got snagged and we bent a spreader while waking the mast forward.

I have the FX-11 too on my 26x, Excited to see your idea. I put a cowling on my locker to feed chain out, I havent thought to see if it now fits the FX11 with the long shank sticking just a bit out... Wont see til spring. You can just barely ser it on the front of the locker. Its actually pretty big.

I'm interested to see a closer pic of your clamshell.
I'll post up progress pics of the anchor locker mods in a different thread, once I start working on it.
