Just came across an article about cross oceanic sailing in a small sail boat that might be of interest!
:o
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... -boat.html

At about 3’3” in length it is roughly 8 times smaller than or Mac26X !!! :D :D

Not that I’d ever recommend taking a Mac26X or Mac26M out into the “Blue Water” realm, leastaways not before getting all the applicable American Sailing Association training courses accomplished and a whole lot of prepatory experience and a through psychological examination 🧐🤪🙄😵‍💫

PS: Note the roller Furler and twin rudders! Almost a “MiniMac” for ‘MiniMe’ for the next Austin Powers 🍿 🎥! :D :D

After 90 (+) days with one change of clothes and ‘vile’ high protein pastes for food I’d be very careful to stand up-wind when they uncork that bottle! :D :D

I can't SIT for more than a few hours without needing to stand up walk. No way...no way.

I’m interested in the logistics of getting one’s posterior over the stern when nature calls in high seas….🤔… especially with a following sea…

Hope this guy rigs a couple constant record cameras as just getting into position would be YouTube worthy! 🤣

Also, aside from the liquid TP aspect one wave could wash everything back into the hatch!

Hope he brings a good hand bilge pump with a thru-hull overboard dump as inevitably he’s gonna need it (and a spare!)!😳🤣

What brings on this juvenile sense of humor is that the internal “cabin” dimensions of this diminutive hope-to-be blue water ocean crosser are similar (slightly less than) to those of a Mac26X head cabinet.

There was some scuttlebutt that the project may be moving to Nova Scotia this summer!

If true I hope someone thinks to take some baseline data of him along with pictures to do a before/after analysis. His National Institutes of Health would probably have more than a couple Health Professionals who would be interested in studying him (physically & mentally) to see what effect his journey has on him. Stuff like a full body CAT and MRI scan immediately before and after. Same with physiological aspects of blood data, lung capacity, O2 transfer, joint mobility, body mass/fat ratio, kidney and liver function, endocrine function, physical strength capability, tread mill endurance, stationary cycle endurance and that sort of stuff. The psychological capability such as mental agility tests, critical thinking/rationale tests, general knowledge tests and personality measurement testing (along with other relevant before/after evaluative tests.

What he’s planning on doing would be akin to what people transiting to Mars might experience as something of a worst case scenario. The constant work required activity, adaptation to changing circumstances, limited movement/exercise, restricted diet, limited sanitary facilities/capabilities….
Maybe Elon Musk might be interested as a backstop study for his Starship Mars Colonization efforts.
At least that was this effort wouldn’t be a total loss to the world at large and something more than a one oaragraph entry in a paperback records book.

Re: Interesting article Tiny Sailboat Atlantic Crossing 2023

Post by OverEasy »

Hi All!

A little update on the ‘mad’ Englishman and his planned crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in his TINY sailboat

http://www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/2023/ ... ee-footer/

He ran into some technical difficulties … but not for a lack of courage

Best Regards
