I have two Wavian’s. I purchased them because of their superior construction. According to Wavian, those cans are the same as the ones NATO uses.

On our 14 day Chesapeake cruise last summer, I kept them in the cabin. During the hottest days there wasn’t any smell of gasoline, and there wasn’t any bulging in the cans. They perform exceptionally well. As to tipping over, someone would be foolish not to secure gasoline cans.

I did not blindly purchase these cans. Several years ago, a Mac owner in Alaska reported on his military cans. He gave a very convincing report. His confidence on those cans was convincing. He too kept those cans in the cabin.

We put over two hundred miles on the water, and some of those legs were in excess of forty miles. I wanted to be certain when we needed fuel, we had it. Two Wavian cans, along with the two standard twelve gallon tanks on the :macm: made me feel more secure.

Oh wow, I love Project Farm's channel. He did some very interesting tests of glues and adhesives.

The test he didn’t do on the cans is how strong the cans are in warm environments. How strong the gaskets prevent leakage.

That brings up a good point. I've got 6 gal Specters from Canada. Been Soggy Paws for 10+ years. Seem to be fine. The operative word is "seem". Should I be replacing them? :|

The tanks on my :macm: are the original twelve gallon ones from 2005. One year I didn’t unscrew the venting knobs, and the tanks expanded like balloons, and blew out the gaskets. I replaced them (gaskets), and bought extras, just in case. I have since become more attentive to that potential problem.

I'm a big fan of original vintage Jerry Cans. This video explains why.

Very interesting video. It validates dlanderson’s initial video post about the superiority of the Wavian can; not that he states that, or implies that, the video does. The Wavian can though is not plastic lined like the original Jerry Can.

Great video. I saw it about a month ago. I had no idea there was so much engineering in one of those cans.
