California used to be the state of the art for nuts and flakes. But recently Florida seeks to out-do them.

I just watched the video. All I saw was a bunch of boaters having a boating good time. The biggest fault I saw was a serious lack of PFD’s being worn.

Haulover Inlet channel has wasted hours of my life. Fascinating to watch waiting for disaster.

The sister channel, Miami Boat Ramp is equally fascinating.

I'd hate to admit how much time I've wasted watching those channels. I grew up just south of there and spent a lot of time on that beach you sometimes see. It was not that crazy when I was a kid.

Maybe it’s good that I’m in a sailboat and not a powerboat😇

For sheer terror and a huge adrenaline rush (never mind the need for a change of swim trunks/ bathing-suit/underwear you can’t beat The New Smyrna Beach 🏖 Florida

🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈 Shark Capitol of the USA!!! 🦈 🦈🦈🦈🦈

No warning signs or any public notices or cautionary notes in the rental condo papers.
Just a take your family for a once in a lifetime East Coast Florida Vacation.

Only after you’ve taken your kids out to swim beyond the breakers several times during your stay and you’ve returned home does a co-worker,when you tell him of the trip, does he look like you’re insane, a madman and a psychopath all at the same time and blurts out at the lunch table:

“ARE YOU $&#@%!§€£¥ NUTS!!!”
“ THATS THE MOST SHARK INFESTED BEACH IN THE US!!!”
“AND YOU TOOK YOUR KIDS OUT PAST THE BREAKERS!!! YOU ARE $&#@%!§€£¥ NUTS!!!”
“NOBODY WITH ANY SENSE GOES IN THE WATER THERE EXCEPT A TOURIST!!!”

While apparently while the Floridian locals know this they make it a point not to let the tourists know as it might dampen the local make-a-fast-buck-above-all-else commerce revenue.

There are loads more going back decades… just Google “New Smyrna Beach Sharks” for more.

So if you are after a true Florida thrill New Smyrna Beach is the place!

Sharks are fascinating but realizing that you and your family were bait is beyond thrilling…..
One of the top 10 places we will never go to ever again.

They did have numerous “Don’t Litter” signs though……🙄

Best Regards

After we moved out of Dade county I spent my high school and early college years surfing at New Smyrna (Bethune Beach to be exact). I had a shark of unknown size rub up against my leg one day while waiting for a set. It was not a pleasant experience.
