M26X Design Category Certificate
M26X Design Category Certificate
Hello,
I'm a portuguese happy owner of a M26X, bought 4 years ago, that is registered for navigation in sheltered waters.
Till now it has been enough, but i want to take my family for a cruise this summer, and i need to upgrade the registration for coastal navigation.
To accomplish that, i need to prove the state entities that the vessel is capable to handle "winds with a force equal to or less than 6 on the Beaufort scale and waves with a significant height equal to or less than 2m".
Does anyone have the M26X design category certificate that can share with me?
Best regards

Jodipart,
If what you require is a regulation of the EU, then try contacting a MacGregor owner who lives in the EU. The most active EU member I can think of is Kurz. Type Kurz in the "search" window (upper right), and send either an e-mail, or a private message.
There was a long time member who sailed the Douro River in Portugal, but I am finding it difficult to find how to contact him. The name of his
is Arian.

So if your

If your

Hello,
Thank you for the elucidative response.
Unfortunately, it all makes sense now: my boat was built in 1997 and the 1st registration date in Portugal is from 2006

I will send you the images of the CE Certification from the owners manual in a PM.
Re: M26X Design Category Certificate
The long McGregor 26x promotion video on youtube.com shows the reefed sailboat out in the ocean of California coast in Cat 6 conditions where the waves are taller than the sailboat. Perhaps a segment of video would assist in your quest. In addition there are videos and records of the M26X crossing to and sailing in the Bahamas and the Dry Tortugas which are at least 60 miles from Continental USA across the Gulfstream.

Re: M26X Design Category Certificate
A promotion video won't do the trick. Official documents should. I have the official certification details at hand and already contacted Jodipart about it.
