general mod questions
I am a new owner of a 26M and want to do a few modifications. I am a mildly disabled vet and have some difficulty entering the cockpit, wanting to place a small boarding ladder I would like to place two stanchion bases to use for the attachment for the ladder. How do I get underneath to tighten the bolts? secondly I want to add a clet midway between the forward and rear clets. I am having a difficulty pulling into my slip and want to place a spring line to the middle of the boat. All response is appreciated.

Hanswhite: Welcome to the forum!
I'm having a hard time envisioning where you want to put the ladder/stanchion bases. If you can describe what part of the boat you want to mount them on, I'll try to see if there is a way to access it. My boat is at my house, so it's no trouble to check.
If you put your center cleats on the cabin top, you'll need to use access plugs, or a cover plate on the liner. Not sure how much meat you're going to have up there, but it should be reasonably strong and will probably be ok for reasonable springline use.
This is the listing for 2" plugs, but they also have smaller ones.

Re: general mod questions
If it’s only for docking, you can add a cleat to the jib car track. https://www.catalinadirect.com/shop-by- ... uot-track/
I’m not confident the tracks are mounted well enough for dock service in a blow, but for docking they should be more than adequate. For spring lines in a blow, I run them fore and aft from the OEM stern and bow cleats, respectively.

owner. It works just as well on my 05
. Just stand at the other side of the pedestal, opposite from where you sit on the captains seat. You will be facing the stern, and when you turn the wheel to the right, the boat goes to the right, and vice’ versa.
If your questioning about a ladder on the side so as to board from a dock, I use one of these.
It’s collapsable, and attaches to a stanchion.
Have you tried backing into a slip. I was told this years ago by anI am having a difficulty pulling into my slip

Just want to pile on with Ray. The boat is much more maneuverable in reverse with a bit of board down than in forward.

Re: general mod questions
I should have added that at least one rudder should be down, along with a bit of dagger-board. If there is a lot of cross wind, nothing works

Re: general mod questions
I don't use a rudder when backing. I'm usually in close quarters and shallower water when doing tight maneuvering, so don't want to risk a rudderectomy.

Re: general mod questions
Partial, difficult solution: Put a Beckson deck plate near where the new fitting is going. Reach through the hole to tighten the nuts and washers. Drawbacks: Expensive. requires you to jigsaw a large hole.
