Can't believe I waited so long to buy a pressure washer for my Mac and home
I have been brushing and scrubbing my Mac for 17 years to keep it white and shiny. Paid someone to pressure clean my home concrete. Finally got my own, a 2000psi electric. Took it to the marina to try it on the Mac 26X today. As I walked up to the boat I had scrubbed a few weeks before, I thought to myself that I was becoming really obsessive about cleaning the boat. "It looks pretty good; why am I doing this today in 90 degree weather?" I remarked to myself. Got the pressure washer hooked up and started in on the cabin top. Immediately there was a swath of clear, pristine, sparkling white! Wow, everything else suddenly looked so gray, even light green where a little Central Florida mold/mildew had "homesteaded" in the crevices or around the lines at the cleats. Could not believe the difference. Two hours later I walked away from a "new" boat. If any of my Mac shipmates haven't gotten a pressure washer, I can't recommend it enough. No more bruised knuckles trying to clean around a cleat. No more mold/mildew sprays either. Just plain water at 2000psi. Love it!

I've had one for a few years now, and it is SO much easier to clean the boat now. Especially the cabin top, with its pebbled non-slip surfaces, and the bits and bobs bolted to it all over the place, making it difficult to clean around.
Almost time to winterize it, in fact. Need more spider poop remover for the house siding, though, around the coach lights. A pressure washer doesn't do diddly with those little brown spots, not without chemical intervention at least.

Herschel ,
Am I the only one who can't pull up the image you posted? Is it of the unit you purchased, or of the clean Mac?

I pressure washed my X once. I noticed that the wastewater flowing off the boat was a chalky white and I got scared that I was removing the gelcoat.
Does anyone know if that is a legit concern, or was I just seeing the dirt in the water?

I get the same thing, and have to clean the driveway afterward or there's a while stripe meandering down one side. It's the chalky gel coat. And it doesn't bother me.

I also saw white stuff running down. I guess as Tom said, it's a bit of gelcoat and I guess not a concern as long as you don't do this every week.
This year I used my pressure washer for the first time on the deck. I was amazed at stuff that came clean that I couldn't get clean before with soap and water. It still doesn't do much for the slime on the bottom, but topsides was amazing.

I was logged in, or I could not read Herschel’s post. Just could not see his photo. Strange.

There was no photo Ray. Then, after you said something, they added a photo. Then, Russ tried to convince you that you weren't even logged in. It's a gaslighting conspiracy...
Try a cold reboot. That usually eliminates my gremlins.

Re: Can't believe I waited so long to buy a pressure washer for my Mac and home
Yes, I had a little chalky run off, too, but it was so much a better trade off. Of course, in a perfect world, I would have either gone back today to lay on a coat of wax or hung a couple of "Benjamins" under the Bimini for the "boat wax ferry", but, alas, that level of energy and/or organization is just a little beyond me these days. I plan to bring my boat home this winter to try to do a mod that will make the V berth a little longer. While I have it home and in cooler temps, I'll put that coat of wax on. Not sure what the picture problem was about. Maybe the boat was so shiny the glare just blinded your computer...

Beware high high pressure washers blowing off gel coating flakes and bits. If the fiberglass is exposed you will need to repair it soon to stop water penetration soaking fiberglass strands creating further issues in the future. I now have a dozen spots patched, primarily in the cabin area, that will require the entire floor to be gel coated, for a decent look, i hope, and hope that it won't adversely affect the diamond grit traction. As my eyes are very light sensitive I preferred pressure washing versus shiny waxing but the third time around it cost me.
